Labette Health Welcomes New Physicians

 

PARSONS, Kan., Feb. 9, 2009 – Labette Health welcomed five recent additions to its medical staff with a reception in its main entrance lobby at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17. The new physicians are:

 Jerry D. Bouman, D.O., F.A.C.O.S.

A Kansas native, Dr. Bouman graduated from Fredonia High School, Labette Community College and Pittsburg State University. Before attending medical school, he taught biology and physiology and coached wrestling at Chanute Senior High School for six years.

After graduating from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Dr. Bouman completed an internship at Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City and a surgical residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center. He worked at Cancer Treatment Center of America for more than 10 years and served as Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Oklahoma State University.

A general surgeon, Dr. Bouman specializes in endoscopy, laparoscopy, surgical oncology and surgical wound care. He can be reached through his office, SEK General Surgery, in Building D, Suite 4, or by calling 620-423-1606.

Bradley S. Davis, M.D.

A physiatrist, Dr. Davis is a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Among his specialties is electrodiagnosis – testing electrical conduction of nerves and muscles – to evaluate pain in the neck, back and extremities, as well as numbness, tingling or burning in hands and feet. These conditions include carpal tunnel syndrome and diabetic neuropathy.

A native of Independence, Dr. Davis graduated from Independence High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at St. Georges University, followed by clinical training in New York City. A member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he completed his training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Dr. Davis also specializes in stroke rehabilitation, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, lumbar interventional pain management, joint injections, arthritis, cerebral palsy, fibromyalgia and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Davis practices in Labette Health’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Department. He also maintains a clinic in Mercy Medical Plaza at 800 West Laurel in Independence, where he sees patients the second and fourth Mondays of every month. Ahmed M. Madi, M.D., M.R.C.P.

A native of Libya who also received medical training in Scotland, Canada and Connecticut, Dr. Madi has joined the medical staff as a hospitalist, or specialist in inpatient medicine. When a patient is admitted, Labette Health’s hospitalists take over from the patient’s primary-care physician and oversee his treatment until discharge. The program, which began two years ago, has resulted in improved round-the-clock care for Labette Health patients.

After graduating from Garyounis University in Benghazi, Libya, Dr. Madi completed a rotating internship at the main teaching hospital there before joining the staff of Tripoli Central Hospital, first as a senior house officer in cardiology and intensive care and then as registrar in endocrinology and internal medicine.

After moving to the United Kingdom in 1990, he was a registrar in renal and internal medicine at hospitals in Scotland and England.He also completed a clinical fellowship in nephrology at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. After completing a three-year residency in internal medicine at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn., he worked as a primary care physician in Roundup, Wyo., and Shawnee Mission, Kan.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Michael Shaw, D.O.

A specialist in internal medicine, Dr. Shaw’s office is currently in the Medical Arts Building at 2410 Main in Parsons.Dr. Shaw received bachelor’s degrees in both microbiology and business management from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He also worked for two years as a volunteer educator and trainer in England where he developed new approaches and modeling for teaching and served as a British Hearing Impaired interpreter.

After receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kirksville, Mo., College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005, he completed a residency in internal medicine at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.Dr. Shaw’s office, which specializes in adult medicine, is open until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evenings. Rahul P. Singh, M.D.

Dr. Singh is Labette Health’s newest emergency physician, but he comes to Parsons with a local connection, having studied with two other Labette Health physicians, Dr. Robert Gibbs, radiology, and Dr. Kolette Smith, internal medicine.

A graduate of Newman University in Wichita, Dr.Singh received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1995.  At the University of Kansas-Wichita, he completed a one-year preliminary residency in internal medicine and a four-year internal medicine residency specializing in pediatrics.

He has practiced full-time or part-time in emergency rooms throughout Kansas, including Wichita, Great Bend, McPherson, Emporia, Garden City and Atchison.
