Roberta Vernon is Labette Health Volunteer of the Year
PARSONS, Kan., April 20, 2011 – Roberta Vernon was recognized as Labette Health’s Volunteer of the Year for 2010 during National Healthcare Volunteer Week activities at the hospital last week.
Vernon has spent more than 6,000 hours in volunteer service at Labette Health since 2001, serving on the hospital’s Auxiliary board for six years as secretary, vice president and president. She currently serves as past president and chairs the Auxiliary’s Baby Cap service. She also has worked at the Information Desk and in the Gift Shop.
The Volunteer of the Year is selected by the Volunteer Director and the Auxiliary President and Vice President, and by praise and compliments from fellow volunteers and hospital staff. Recipients must demonstrate compassion, confidence, leadership and dependability; go above and beyond to assist customers and staff; be respected by others; and cooperate in Auxiliary activities and fundraisers.
“Roberta is an incredible person with a heart of gold. I can’t thank her enough for her leadership and support the past two years as Auxiliary President,” said Volunteer Director Kerri Beardmore. “She truly is dedicated top helping others and fully supports our Auxiliary and hospital. She joins a remarkable list of previous Volunteers of the Year.”
