3 North is a 16 bed patient care unit located on the 3rd floor of Labette Health. 3 North has ten (10) private rooms and three (3) semi-private rooms. Usual types of patients seen include general surgical, and orthopedic patients. Each patient is assigned to a Registered Nurse to work with the physician and other health care team members to promote healing, prevent complications and to focus on pain management.

Many patients opt to participate in the Rapid Recovery Joint Replacement Program for their elective total joint replacement. This is a participative program in which the patient and their coach attend a preparative class before the surgery to meet members of the health care team and learn about the program from admission to discharge. The multidisciplinary program which includes group therapy provided by physical therapists helps to reduce recovery time and shorten hospital stays.
